Ever since I was a little girl I have always dreamt of going away at Christmas time. I just think there’s something so special about spending Christmas with family away from the hustle and bustle and general commercialism that comes with Christmas these days. No sooner has the big day been and gone, we are back out working, shopping the sales, forgetting to slow down and really enjoy our time with loved ones. Of course, I’ve already got a bucket list compiled of holiday destinations for the ultimate Christmas break. Here’s whats on my list if you are looking for some inspiration for your own Christmas holiday.
You can find amazing holiday rentals for all the places I have listed over on Clickstay, infact they have over 70,000 properties in 70 countries so you can be sure to find the perfect holiday rental for your family.
The place that started the dream, my ultimate Christmas break away would be to New York. I fell in love with Home Alone lost in New York when I was little and ever since then It’s been my life mission to go to New York at Christmas. I would love to watch the Macy’s day parade, Ice skate in Central Park, see the sights from the top of the Empire state and finish off with a hot chocolate under the tree at the Rockefeller centre. This dream will most definitely be becoming a reality once the girls are a little bit older.
This one is a little closer to home but I have heard it is absolutely beautiful at Christmas time. I have been thinking of planning a trip to Scotland for so long. The Christmas markets look so good and how amazing would it be to be there to see the new year fireworks.
As much as I love winter I don’t always love the weather. Those cold grey dreary mornings can really effect a lot of peoples moods so imagine jetting off to somewhere hot and sunny. Waking up to sandy beaches and crystal clear waters is about as far away as you can get from a frosty English morning but my god how good would that feel! This might be a bit too far away from a traditional Christmas for my girls whilst they are still young but It’s definitely a destination for the future.
I will be honest, Tenerife was never on my Christmas holiday bucket list to begin with. However a lady I know spends Christmas in Tenerife every year without fail. She loves the atmosphere over there at Christmas, and not to mention the cocktails on beach. I would definitely love to experience Christmas abroad with all our family. This Incredible Clickstay villa in Playa de las Americas, Tenerife sounds ideal for us all, with 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and a private pool, it would be perfect for our family, wouldn’t it be great to have all the little ones waking up together on Christmas morning.
I couldn’t not include Lapland when talking about the ultimate Christmas break could I. Nothing screams Christmas quite like Lapland. As a massive Christmas lover, Lapland has always been a dream of mine. I can’t even begin to image how magical it would be, I mean, the place has a Santa Claus village! It is advised that children are over 5 to participate in a lot of the activities plus the temperature may be a little too cold for younger ones to cope with. We will without a doubt be visiting once the girls are old enough.
Have you always dreamed of going away at Christmas? I’d love to hear which destination is top of your bucket list.
