When we moved into our family home 6 years ago we had one child, who thankfully was past the destroying the house phase. Our house has undergone quite a transformation in that time, not to mention gaining 2 little house destroyers, Ava and Poppy, I’m looking at you! I would say I am pretty house proud and I often get asked how my house still resembles an adult house as opposed to a soft play. I think it is still possible to have a nicely decorated house that reflects your personality whilst also being a safe loving place for your children to grow up in.
My style is quite simple really, I keep the colour scheme neutral, the walls are either grey or white everywhere. I then add in pops of colour with furnishing and accessories. This means If the kids mess up the walls I can quickly paint over it, and if any accessories get damaged it won’t ruin my colour scheme if I need to replace something. I have used the same colour scheme throughout the house pretty much, grey walls/furnishings with touches of blush pink, I know, such an Instagram cliche. The girls room is the only room with colour on the walls, that’s because Pinterest basically threw up in there. Their room is a peachy pink with gold glitter accents, it was my chance to completely indulge my girly side.
I hadn’t really given much thought to how the colours you use in your home reflect your personality until I read this e-book which supports Julian Charles latest campaign #colouryourpersonality, lets just say I couldn’t be more grey if I tried.
You’re reliable, but sometimes a bit scared of being the centre of attention – Yep
Grey is also the colour of compromise. It shows that you can be indecisive, and would rather sit on the fence than make any big decisions – Yep
You’re mostly a calm person who likes to be in control of a situation. Sometimes you can be a little bit too serious, but your fun side comes out when you’re with your best friends – Got me again.
Have a read of the e-book. I would love to know if the colours you have chose for you family home reflect your personality.
