How I Take And Edit Blog Photos

*this is a sponsored post

Taking photo’s is a real love of mine, I think that’s what attracted me so much to Instagram, firstly, and then blogging. I love capturing memories and being able to share them with others. I’m no photography expert, in fact I’ve only recently stepped away from the auto settings. I am really interested to learn more about photography in the future but for now I’m just winging it and hoping my passion for taking photos shows. The quality of my photo’s has definitely improved over time, especially since discovering apps that make editing photo’s really easy. I currently have 2 camera’s I use, which I will go into more detail about below. For impromptu photos I often use my Iphone camera too. Photography is big news in blogging, It can make your posts look so much more appealing to readers. I am always drawn to blogs and Instagram accounts with beautiful images. I have been asked in the past how I take and edit blog photos so I thought I would dedicate a post to what equipment and apps I use.

Blog photography

For the majority of my blog photos I use my beloved Olympus pen EPL-7 which you can pick up for a great price from www.latestdeals.co.uk . I love firstly, how the Olympus pen looks, I mean, just look how pretty it is! Secondly I love how compact it is for a camera that has interchangeable lenses. The kit lens that comes with the camera is great however I really recommend investing in the 45mm lens if you love the blurry background affect. The 45mm lens is my go to for product shots and close ups of the girls. The Olympus has built in WiFi meaning pictures can be transferred quickly from the camera to my phone, another big plus point for me. Here’s some shots taken with the Olympus pen EPL-7

Vlogging and everyday photography

I have recently invested in a Canon G7Xii after doing lots of research. I wanted a compact camera that was not only great at filming but also good for taking pictures and this definitely fits the bill. It is much smaller and lighter than my Olympus, which makes it a great everyday camera. This is fast becoming my preferred camera to take on days out. It does not have interchangeable lenses but that suits me fine as carrying multiple lenses around isnt always practical, not with a baby and toddler in tow anyway. Here’s some shots taken with the Canon G7Xii which you can buy from the Latest Deals website too.

Editing

Editing photos is the fun part, it’s what a can make a good picture into a brilliant one. I use apps on my phone to edit my photos. I have tried a few but Snapseed and Adobe lightroom are the ones I use the most. Both have lots of features so it’s best to have a play around and see which you like best. I generally only play around with a few edits such as upping the brightness and altering the contrast/saturation when needed. Here’s an example of a unedited and edited photo.
