If I’m honest I can’t remember the last time I bought a Rustlers burger.. I do remember drunkenly burning my tongue on one a few years back… anyway Britmums challenged me to take part in the rustlers burger hack challenge and I’m not one to turn down a challenge, especially when it involves food.
I had never considered Rustlers as a family meal but taking part in the burger hack challenge has proved that actually they can be a good go to meal on busy days and with a teenager, toddler and a newborn, our days are certainly busy! With a few added extras you can turn a simple burger into a wholesome family meal.
My Rustlers burger hack challenge
Rustlers southern fried chicken burger twin pack
Jack Daniels honey barbecue glaze
Beef Tomato, Iceberg lettuce
Frozen sweet potato fries
We love going to T.G.I Fridays for their Jack Daniels chicken burger so I took inspiration from that and made my own version. I added Halloumi because, well, Halloumi, and I popped on some tomato and lettuce for some freshness. I served it with Tesco’s frozen sweet potato fries and some extra Jack Daniels glaze to dip. All the toppings were put in the middle of the table for everyone to help themselves. I love this way of serving food as I think it brings everyone together and makes mealtimes fun.
The burgers went down a treat with everyone, the kids loved building their own burgers to suit their personal tastes and I loved how quick, easy and affordable the meal was. It’s nice to have a fall back convenience meal for when the days are too hectic. Why not head to Tesco’s to pick up the ingredients for your own Rustlers burger hack challenge?
