Poppy’s One Month Update

January 16, 2018

I’m a little bit late writing this, Poppy is actually 5 weeks old now, I just haven’t had the time, story of my life at the minute! Life with 2 small ones is hectic as hell but more about that in another post, this ones all about my little Popster, yep she’s been given a multitude of dodgy nicknames already (I won’t tell you all of them, the parent police might come for me) It doesn’t seem like 5 minutes have passed since I was writing my pregnancy updates and now here I am doing Poppy’s one month update. Time has just flown by!

Our first month with Poppy has been, erm, interesting. She’s a very unpredictable baby, once we think we’ve cracked some kind of routine with her she goes and does something completely different. She changes her mind daily about when she wants to go to sleep, how much she milk drinks, even how we hold her. The term ‘winging it’ is a massive understatement when it comes to life with Poppy.

Poppy’s one month update

Poppy looks so much like Ava did at the same age, its crazy. She has lots of dark brown hair although its starting to fall out just like Ava’s, she’s got quite the receding hairline going on. When Ava’s hair fell out it came back blonde, so it will be interesting to see if Poppy’s does the same.

Poppy was breastfed for the first 3 weeks and then we switched to formula, I’ll write a post on that soon. She has anything between 3-5oz every 3 or 4 hours. The last time I got her weighed she was 8lb 3oz, that was over a week a go now so I’d say she has put at least another pound on, maybe even 2 the way she knocks back the milk. She hasn’t got the nickname chubba chubs for nothing!

Thankfully Poppy is a fairly good sleeper now, the first couple of weeks were horrendous. She is a very noisy sleeper though, and does an awful lot of grunting and groaning. This week we have started to implement a bedtime routine, so Poppy goes to bed at around 7pm she then wakes around 12 and then again at 4 for milk and then sleeps till 8. She can be a bit fussy in the day but as long as there’s some bakground noise she will snooze off and on in her Sleepyhead Deluxe

Likes and Dislikes

Other than loving to eat and sleep, Poppy is quite partial to watching a bit of paw patrol with her big sis. They have such a lovely relationship developing and Poppy is always smiling at Ava. Poppy really loves the bath, she’s so chilled out when she’s in there and Ava loves having her sister in the bath with her. Just like her mama and big sister, Poppy is not a fan of waiting for her food and lets the whole world know about it when she is hangry! Other than that she is a pretty chilled out baby.

We are just about finding our groove as a family of 5 and Miss Poppy is settling in just lovely. I can’t wait to see how much she changes and develops in the next 4 weeks.

I forget how little and helpless babies are in those first few months. The photos are just lovely, it is amazing how much character these little people have so early!

Oh my gosh she is just beautiful – it takes me back to when my girls were babies. They are going to have such an amazing bond and it will be amazing to watch. I need to remember to blog about my baby’s (well he is one now) updates because they change so fast.

  7. Aww Poppy is just gorgeous. She clearly has a very adoring big sister too. I always thought that babies sleep peacefully and then when we had our babies I realised that wasn’t the case. They are so noisy, aren’t they? I’m not sure where that phrase “I slept like a baby” comes from!

  8. She’s gorgeous. She’s sleeping better than my 19 month old! Love the matching pj’s
