I find it hard to believe that this is my 34 week pregnancy update. I feel like I say this all the time but I honestly can’t believe how quick this pregnancy is going! Having a toddler to look after at the same time, I barely get chance to remember that I’m pregnant. I felt when I was pregnant with Ava that time had pretty much come to a standstill, definitely no chance of that happening this time, life with a toddler does not slow down just because you are growing another human.
Being pregnant and looking after a toddler has not been easy. When I was pregnant with Ava I could take myself off to bed if I needed too, anyone with a toddler will tell you that the closest you will come to resting now is lying down on the floor being climbed all over whilst that annoying pink pig plays on repeat! It does mean I haven’t had time to dwell on feeling rubbish or fed up of being pregnant though, silver linings and all that!
34 week pregnancy update
How am I feeling?
I am generally not doing too bad, I am noticing my SPD is coming back but its manageable, I mainly ache at the end of the day. With Ava I had terrible SPD right from the beginning so I feel incredibly lucky to have got this far without being in too much pain.
I have definitely developed a bit of a waddle now and I’m getting a bit impatient to meet this little one. Turning over in bed and bending down takes quite a lot of time and effort, I’ve reached the point now where if something drops on the floor, its staying there. Oh and I need help getting out of the bath, sexy!
There’s still an awful lot to do before little miss arrives and I’m struggling to find time to do anything, my hospital bag isn’t packed, her clothes haven’t been washed and there are still a few baby essentials I need to buy. I really need to sort my shit out and get cracking don’t I?
We have bought all the bits needed to convert my iCandy into a double so at least she has some wheels, no bottles to drink out of or wearable clothes but she has wheels! We have been undecided on transport for baby girl for a while now. You can read my ramblings on that here.
Midwife appointments and Scans
Since my 2nd Trimester update I have had my 30 and 34 week growth scans, little one is cooking away nicely and thankfully there are no concerns on her growth. I also had my Gestational Diabetes test which came back clear too.
I have finally been given the go ahead to give birth at the same Midwife led unit I had Ava at. Being told I can go there feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I have been so stressed just lately not knowing where I would be giving birth so to finally have a plan in place feels amazing. If you haven’t read my previous updates, I got put under consultant care because my BMI was 0.5 over the cut off for normal care. Being able to go midwife led has been hanging on the outcome of the growth scans and the health of my pregnancy. Thankfully everything has been pretty textbook book so they have agreed to let me go midwife led. Now all I need to do is make sure madam comes on time!
Ice give me all the Ice! Every pregnancy I have craved Ice, I feel like an addict routing through my freezer at all times of the day trying to get my ice fix, I’ve even considered buying one of those kids slushie makers. Tesco’s Ice lolly sales will be through the roof for this time of year!
I have an appointment with my midwife next week to do my birth plan, I will do a proper post on that in the next few days as well as a whats in my hospital bag (when I get around to packing it)
I have been booked in for another growth scan at 38 weeks just as a precaution, all these scans are a bit of a pain in the bum but at least I have the reassurance that everything is OK in there.
