My Go To ‘mum’ Make-up

Since becoming a new mum again, the time I get to spend on myself has been some what dramatically reduced so I’ve had to adapt my make up routine to fit into the spare 5 minutes I have in a morning to get ready. I’ve also decided to demote my faithful double wear to special occasions only as putting it on just to watch cbeebies is probably a bit of a waste of money!

I’m not someone who feels comfortable wearing no make up, even if I’m just staying the house I like to have some on just in case, god forbid a random stranger sees my naked face. I have simplified my everyday make up routine down to a few products that take next to no time to apply.

No mum make up is complete without a bit (lot, in my case) of Batiste Dry Shampoo

Meal Plan Monday 27.02.17

This weeks meal plan is a little different, I’m trying to eat a bit (lot) healthier so all my meals are all slimming world friendly meals and meat free. I’m not vegetarian by any means but I like to have a few meat free weeks to cut the cost on our weekly shop.

All recipes are either low syn or syn free

Monday

Frankie’s ‘late night’ breakfast  This is one of Tesco’s new ‘food love story’ recipes.

Tuesday

Carrot, cumin and kidney bean burgers These are firm favourites and are soooo cheap to make, we will serve them with home made chips cooked in the actifry.

Wednesday

Bean chilli Another cheap favourite of ours taken from Jack Monroes ‘a girl called Jack’ cookbook.

Thursday

Creamy mushroom and tomato pasta Thursdays are busy days for us so this quick pasta dish is great.

Friday

I’m having my tooth taken out under sedation today, so I doubt I will be having any proper dinner, everyone else will probably have something from the freezer.

Saturday

Sweet potato curry I normally enjoy a nice takeaway on a Saturday but not this week! I’ve heard good things about this curry though so I’m looking forward to it.

Sunday

Lasagne  This is a beef lasagne recipe but I intend to leave out the mince and just add more veg.

What are your favourite slimmingworld friendly recipes?

Rainy Day Activity – Underwater World

As I’m typing this, storm Doris is in full force, the wind and rain are pretty horrendous today and there’s no way I’m heading out in it, problem is staying in all day with a toddler can make you seriously beg for bedtime. So I thought I’d start sharing some of the activities we get up to on rainy days. I haven’t bought any special equipment, I just use everyday household items and toys.

Today I filled a tub with some warm water and added some fishes  and just let Ava play, I thought she would climb in but she sat there taking them out one by one, giving them a once over and then seeing how they splashed. This entertained her for about 20mins (equivalent to 2 hours in baby time!) I’m going to pick up some blue food colouring for the ‘sea’ and put some bubbles in for the ‘waves’ next time.

We talked about the different fish as she inspected them, the ones I knew the name of at least, must brush up on my fish knowledge!

Once she was bored splashing I put the fish on a towel for her to play with out of water, and gave her the box they came in, she loves putting things into boxes and then getting them all out again.

What are your favourite indoor activities?

I absolutely love seeing other people’s meal plans, I’m not the sort of person that dedicates certain nights to certain foods so I’m always looking for inspiration for something new to try, and basically I just like to nosy into other people’s lives. I thought I’d start a new little blog post every Monday sharing our meal plan for the week as I know you lot are just as nosy as me! Ava eats the same as us most nights so all the meals should be suitable but if not I’ll let you know. Ava does baby led weaning.

Monday

Smokey Bacon Spaghetti – Recipe here budget friendly and so tasty. Next time I make this I will adjust the paprika type or amount, the one I used turned out to be super spicy.

Tuesday

Mexican Bake – Recipe here this is a firm favourite in our house especially with my 12 year old. Only 5 ingredients and it’s meat free so super cheap too. Not sure how spicy this will turn out so I’ll have a meal on stand by for Ava just incase.

Wednesday

Sticky Chinese Traybake – Recipe here we have never made this one but we are a big fan of Asian flavours, so we are really looking forward to it.

Thursday

Spanish Ham And Bean Hotpot – Recipe here This is an old weight watchers recipe that I’ve recently discovered.

Friday

Chorizo And Rosemary pearl barley Risotto – Recipe here we have done this before and loved it, massive chorizo fans over here although I haven’t tried Ava with it just yet.You could of course use risotto instead of pearl barley.

Saturday

Potato,Pepper And Chorizo Stew With Fried Eggs – Recipe here another firm favourite of ours and very budget friendly.

Sunday

We are out at a christening today so will eat at the after party.

Let me know your favourite go to meals, I love trying new things.
